Vote to Review

Methodology

How we review.

Every review on this site follows the same process. No press-release-rewrites, no search-engine speed runs.

01

The community picks

Anyone signed in can suggest a product. Everyone else votes. The top-voted suggestions in each category go to the front of our queue. This is the only thing that determines what we review — not what's trending, not what manufacturers pitched us.

02

We get the product ourselves

For independent reviews, we buy the product at retail price or borrow it from a friend. We don't accept review units we'd be allowed to keep. If a manufacturer ships us something to test, we either return it or pay for it after — and we say so on the review.

03

We use it for 1–2 weeks minimum

No first-impressions reviews. We use the product the way a real owner would: every day, in the situations it was designed for, and a few it wasn't. We take notes on what surprised us, what frustrated us, and what we'd change.

04

We score it on a 10-point rubric

The score reflects how well the product does the job a reader would buy it for. Below 6: don't buy this. 6–7: defensible but not exciting. 8: confidently recommended. 9+: rare — the product is best-in-class for the price.

What we won't do

  • Give a manufacturer or PR firm copy approval, score input, or any pre-publication edits.
  • Accept payment to remove or soften a negative review.
  • Write a sponsored review without a clear, persistent “Sponsored” disclosure on the page itself.
  • Run a review of a product we didn't actually use, no matter how interesting the category is.

Made a mistake?

If we got a fact wrong, email support@votetoreview.com with the review URL and a source. If it's a clear error, we'll fix it and add a correction note. If it's a difference of opinion, we'll publish your response.
